So, I was really inspired by the baby/child skulls done by Jonny-Mistfit [link] that I wanted to create my own skulls. I decided to do prenatal style skulls however (skulls from babies that haven't been born yet in case you didn't know).
Yeah, but I always kinda feel like a cheat when I do that, I mean use someone else's art as inspiration (which is not often, cause usually when I'm creating something, I try to avoid looking at anyone else's art in the meantime LOL) I really do try to avoid emulating someone else's stuff.
I know what you mean. I usually see how someone else draws something then I do my own take on it. Its usually stuff that for some reason is hard for me to draw on my own. So then I look at how someones approach is to it then I add my own style to it. I learn alot from looking at other peoples work. For instance looking at your colored pencil portraits makes me wanna try new approaches to the way I do things. I don't know about you but I'm self taught I study other peoples work and learn things that way. DId you go to art school or anything?
Nope, I am also self taught...everything I know, I taught myself. I guess, all you really need is the desire to wanna do better, and then find ways to get there!
cool. I also saw you are scared to try and work at a shop. I just got hired into one. Your tattoo work is really good. There are such crappy artists working at shops and it drives me nuts cuz they are out there doing what I love for a living while I was stuck at a job. Your stuff would be great for a shop. Hope you end up in one because you deserve to.
